Tyrant Lizard is a a Seattle-born trumpet trio lead by Ray Larsen and featuring Carmen Rothwell (bass) and Gregg Beslisle-Chi (guitar). The group plays Ray's "gorgeously lyrical" compositions with a blues-inflected easy-swinging Americana style all their own. This is their second album release—a follow up to 2016's self-titled debut which received wide critical acclaim—and their first show in Seattle since Carmen and Gregg moved to NYC two years ago!
February, led by double bassist Kelsey Mines, is a Seattle-based quartet featuring Mike Gebhart (drums), and Carlos Snaider (guitar). The music seeks to explore the wide ranging musical capacities of the double bass not only as a foundational instrument, but also as a profoundly melodic one, via the means of contemporary classical composition, jazz influences, and free improvising.
