Tying & Flying: Self-Suspension 101

Sat, Oct 26, 2019 from 12:30pm - 4pm

This event has passed.

Self-suspension can be used for dynamic movement, exploring intense sensation, performance, learning partnered bondage, ritual, and more. After a discussion of general principles and safety considerations specific to self-suspension, participants will practice support line skills and be guided through a basic face-up self suspension, with a possible transition to an inversion and introduction to some in-air variations.

This class utilizes an “inverted classroom” format – participants are expected to have working knowledge of a self-tied chest harness and hip harness, as shown in videos that will be e-mailed to attendees, prior to coming to class. This will allow us to spend the class time polishing and enhancing your skills with tying these harnesses, and working on “in-air” skills.

Pre-requisites: This class is intended as a "101" level introduction to self-suspension. Attendees should have experience with tying on the ground (as both a top and bottom, and/or self-tying), and be very comfortable with non-cinching single column ties. In order to self-suspend in class, participants should review these health evaluation articles, and have body & risk awareness to participate at a level that is safe(r) for them.

Details: Class size limited to insure everyone has "air time" and personalized instruction. There will be a hard point for each attendee. Each attendee may bring one non-tying "spotter" if they would like, but this is not required. You will need a basic self-suspension kit. There may be some supplies available to borrow, please contact Shay with any questions.

Please note, this workshop is currently scheduled in the basement studio of the gallery. The Studio is only accessible by stairs. If this prevents you in any way from attending the workshop, please email education@pan-eros.org so that accommodations can be made.

  • No late entry will be allowed due to the intimate nature of this workshop. Doors will be locked at 10 minutes after the start time.
  • Water available. Please bring your own cup or bottle.
  • Open to all 18+
  • Attendance is limited to 10 people/pairs
  • Questions may be directed to: education@pan-eros.org
