Tango with the Tengu - Suspension Transition
Sat, Mar 16 from 12pm - 3pm
The tengu is a fun and funky chest harness that provides a lot of versatility in flight and in creating shapes. We will explore unique ways to suspend the tengu and create different shapes with this dynamic tie. The tengu provides a structure of a basic chest harness coupled with bent elbows that make this a great option for those being tied who enjoy different arm positions. This sequence will take us from a partial on the ground to a full suspension (those wanting to stay in partials will be able to do so). Students tying will learn fun new transitions and how to navigate this fun functioning tie. Those being tied will explore new arm placements and gain understanding in how to be tied in this unique harness.
For those tying: Know how to tie a suspendable upper body harness. Know how to tie low body ties for suspensions and transitions in suspensions. Functional understanding and experience managing up lines. Knowledge and experience suspending bodies and managing up lines in transitional suspension sequences. I do not allow students in my classes to practice suspensions unless they have shown they already have a basic knowledge and understanding of suspensions including safety.
For those being tied: Experience being tied in transitional suspensions. Experience being tied in a suspendable upper body and lower body ties. Basic understanding of anatomy and safety. Ability to communicate about their bodies and how they are functioning in ties.
