Eduardo Mendonça — Creator of "Bossa-Pop"
Eduardo Mendonça traces his lineage to a royal African family bearing the hereditary title of Mamabeka ("prophet of the royal court"), as documented by the Instituto Geográfico e Histórico da Bahia.
Eduardo Mendonça is the visionary behind "Bossa-Pop" — an inventive fusion of Jazz, Bossa Nova, and Pop that celebrates his rich Brazilian heritage with a contemporary flair. He has played, composed, and directed various genres of Brazilian popular music in the US, Canada, Nepal, and Brazil since 1974. A native of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, Eduardo has shared international stages with legendary Brazilian musicians Geraldo Azevedo, Guilherme Arantes, Alcione, and Jorge Ben Jor.
An award-winning artist, Eduardo was honored as the Outstanding Brazilian Male Singer in the U.S. (2007) and has performed for icons like Pope John Paul II, Nelson Mandela, and the 14th Dalai Lama. He is also the Music Director for iBuildBridges and the arranger and artistic director for Show Brazil! Beyond captivating performances, he is a master storyteller, inviting audiences into a vibrant musical journey that connects tradition with innovation.
